MOTHER'S DAY GIFT IDEAS.

{Landeau Flower Delivery; Dogeared Necklace; Jo Malone Candle; Pandora Bracelet}

Since Mother's Day is just around the corner (in North America at least!), I thought I would put together a little list of gift ideas for those of you that are struggling with what to get for the most special lady in your life:

1. Landeau Flowers: When it comes to luxury and flowers, Landeau is on top of the list. Each individual rose stem is hand picked and assembled into a beautiful, minimalist tin container. Your mom will definitely appreciate this extra special flower delivery! (only in Vancouver)

2. Dogeared: These dainty jewellery pieces by Dogeared are everything. The website carries a special Mother's Day collection with each jewellery piece with its own quote and the symbol behind it. The necklaces are either Gold or Silver-dipped and each piece is hand made! I love these mother/daughter necklaces.

3. Jo Malone- You can never go wrong with Jo Malone. With it being a more luxury brand, you know you will definitely be getting the best product with the best quality. They have a wide range of candles, lotions perfumes and even a home collection. I am sure you can find something your mom will love.

4. Pandora Bracelets: I personally love Pandora bracelets. They can be easily customized with charms to represent different milestones in one's life. It also makes gift giving in the future easier. Just buy a charm if you are stuck on gift ideas for special occasions.

What do you have planned for Mother's Day?

I seriously hate washing my hair for a number of reasons. For one, I am super lazy and washing my hair just seems like the biggest chore to me. Two, I shed like a dog and every time I wash it, I lose 50 million hairs. I am sure of it. So, I find myself (more often than not) going for these super quick hairdos to save me from doing the dirty work that is washing my hair! I put together a quick video of how I do these hair styles, so if you fancy simple hair styles with minimal effort, then do give this video a look.

I basically live in oversized jumpers and leggings. This bright orang-y/mustard jumper is one of my favourites. It's in a perfect spring colour while still thick enough to keep you warm and cozy on a chilly day.

Sweater: American Eagle
Shoes: Zara
Bag: Aldo
Chain Necklace: Zara

3 MUST TRY DETOX WATERS .

detox water, lifestyle blog
If you are anything like me and hate drinking plain water and would much rather opt for a sugar-y drink, then you gotta give these detox waters a go! This Grapefruit water will be your savior after a night of binge drinking. It helps clean out the kidneys, liver and helps with bloating. Slice up a grapefruit, and add it to a jug of water and leave it for a 1-2 hours. I love to add a handful of mint leaves to this for added flavour!
Detox water, lemon, cucumber
 {Lemon & Cucumber}
If you want clearer skin, boost energy levels, and heal your body quickly, this detox water is pretty much my go to drink. Lemons are a power food filled with Vitamin C and anti-oxidants that help balance the pH level in your body. Slice up half of a lemon and cucumber into thin slices and add a handful of mint leaves into a jug of water. Leave it for 1-2 hours and allow for the ingredients to be well infused into the water.
{Strawberry & Mint Infused Water}
This one is perfect to cool you down after a run. Throw 10 large strawberries and 1/2 cup of mint leaves in ice cold water. Leave it for a couple of hours and allow the ingredients to be infused.

I'M IN LOVE WITH THE COCO.

Coconut Oil, Benefits, Natural
Coconut Oil has been a staple item in my hair care routine for a long time. Recently, I have integrated this amazing god-given-gift into my skin care essentials. and let me tell you it has done me wonders! Coconut oil is such a versatile item as not only is it great for external use but also carries many health benefits and is great for cooking. I pick up mine from Costco and this particular one from Carlington Farms is organic, virgin and cold pressed.

Skin Care

As I mentioned above, I have recently discovered how amazing coconut oil is for our skin. I use it in a number of different ways:

Natural Makeup Remover/cleanser: I have completely eliminated using any makeup removers from my skin care routine, as it leaves my skin feeling dry and flaky. In fact, a lot of cleansers on the market are filled with harsh chemicals and overabundance of alcohol that strips out the natural oils from your skin. This eventually causes an overproduction of oil leading to severe acne, clogged pores and other skin issues. Coconut oil will not only remove waterproof makeup and any other impurities with irritation, but will also moisturize your skin simultaneously.

GUIDE TO SPRING CLEANING YOUR WARDROBE.

Spring Cleaning, Wardrobe, Fashion
I am pretty sure I would be considered a hoarder if anyone was to see the condition of my closet. In fact, I would like to think that most of my pay check help feed my shopping addiction (after makeup of course). This year, I am determined to ween of this habit of excessive shopping and in order to be one step closer to that, I NEED to de-clutter my wardrobe. So, here I share with you my tips and tricks to help you spring clean your wardrobe.

1. Set the mood: As this is going to be quite a task, it's always a good idea to make a good playlist that you can jam out to while doing the hard errand at hand. Maybe, even invite over a friend, not only will it make for a great hang out session, they can help you decide what to keep/toss out. Here are some playlists I found on 8 Tracks to get you in mood for some spring cleaning.

2. Purge: Before you even get into full cleaning gear, do a quick scan through your closet and remove anything that stands out to you right away.

3. A grand Dump: Dump everything out of your closet so that you can visualize the clean space and how you would want to organize it. Also, it's important to think about your current dressing style, job etc. This will help make it easier to decide which pieces to keep or toss the ones that no longer fit your style.

4. Make piles: Go through each piece of clothing and make a Yes, No and Maybe piles. Here is a great chart to help you make decisions on which pieces should stay and which ones to bid adieu to.

3. Ask the tough questions: I like to use the One-year rule. If you haven't worn something in the past year, or it still has the price tag on it, chances are you won't wear it now. So, go through and get rid of anything you haven't worn in the past year.

4.Get organized: The key to staying organized is good storage. Stores like Bed Bath & Beyond or Ikea sell great storage units to help better organize your closet. I like to organize my closet based on activities. For example: all my clothes are organized based on :work, going out (day/night), comfy stay-at-home clothes, and active wear. This comes in really handy when you are having trouble deciding what to wear. You don't have to go through your entire closet to decide on something, you can simply just go to the section that pertains to your planned activity.

5. Toss, Sell or Donate: Organize anything in the "No" pile into three sections: Toss, Sell or Donate. Toss out anything that is worn out, ripped etc. If there are pieces that you would like to sell, check out these apps where you can trade or sell clothes you no longer wish to keep. Another no brainer is to donate the clothing to a local charity shop.

LIFE AND THINGS.

Notebook, Planner
This week, my goal was to get my life in order, somewhat. So, I went and got myself a planner, just so I can organize my daily routines a bit better. I have been on the hunt for a pretty notebook for a long time. Half-way through April and I think I finally found one that I was satisfied with. I have just finished making a list of blog posts for the next couple of weeks. I find that keeping a planner/notebook helps me better prepare for any upcoming events/meeting and just things in general.
Lispticks
I have also managed to upload another YouTube video on my favorite lipsticks, which you can watch here. On a side note, I have just hit 5000 views on my youtube channel (eeekkkk). Thank you to those of you who have been supporting me.
Room Decor, Frames
I have been looking for some uplifting and positive quotes for some time now. So, I was really happy with this purchase. Plus they go with my room decor. I am one happy camper.
The Secret
I have seen The Secret and loved it! So when I came across this, it was a no brainer. I had to pick it up. I am all for finding motivation in anything and everything.
To end of the week, I did the10 K Vancouver Sun Run with a group of co-workers. It was nice to get out on a Sunday and do something for a good cause. And then end of with a celebratory lunch at Mahoney's!

What have you been up to this week?

21 THINGS UNIVERSITY TAUGHT ME.

Things University taught me, Graduation

The other day it hit me that it's already been a year since I have graduated from University. As I am sat here reflecting on what an amazing and life-changing experience that was, I couldn't help but feel a little nostalgic. To bring back some of those timeless memories back, I decided to put together a little list of things university taught me.
  1. Buy everything you can while you still get a student discount.
  2. You will never use the things you learned in University.
  3. Procrastination is stronger than any force in the universe.
  4. It is possible to survive on Instant Noodles for breakfast, lunch AND dinner.
  5. Pulling an all-nighter is not a skill. It's a way of life.
  6. Not all academically intelligent people have common sense.
  7. You can still pass without going to class the entire semester.
  8. There are days that even your coffee needs coffee.
  9. There is such a thing as a stupid question.
  10. A degree is not enough to get you a job.
  11. You actually paid $50,000+ to have someone read you power point slides. Word for word.
  12. Google can answer all your questions.
  13. Sweats are your best friend.
  14. Never ever turn down free food.
  15. When in doubt, cite that shit.
  16. Only math you need to be good at is to calculate what you need on the exam to pass the class.
  17. People don't go to the library to actually study.
  18. It doesn't matter how smart you were in high school.
  19. Some of the best nights: I can't remember. And that is okay.
  20. Bullshiting on papers is a form of art.
  21. Your degree is nothing but a title.

MY FAVORITE LIPSTICKS.

Over the last couple of years, I have found myself venturing into the world of lipsticks. I was never the one to wear red lipsticks or any bright colors for that matter. But I must say, I have been loving all shades of reds and brown hues lately. So here is a quick video I filmed featuring my current favorite lipsticks.

H2O+ FACE OASIS MIST SPRAY.

Skin Care, Face Oasis Mist spray

Throughout High School, I suffered from extremely oily skin. By the time I would get home from school, I looked like a shiny mess. However, I have noticed as I got older, my skin has also changed quite dramatically. I have been suffering from extremely dry skin for the past couple of years. It gets quite irritating when applying makeup as my skin doesn't look as smooth. Instead by the end of the day it tends to get flaky.

From all the different products I've used this one definitely sits at the top of my list. It is the Face Oasis H20+ Oasis Mist. This product has done me wonders in my makeup application process. It is oil free, so it doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy or heavy. it's a perfect light and refreshing face mist. It works by restoring the moisture balance giving you a smooth base to apply makeup onto. I give my entire face an even mist right before putting on foundation. I let it settle into my skin and then apply foundation. After that, I spray the mist all over my face once again and pat it with the same foundation brush. Adding this step into my makeup routine has helped me immensely. My skin is left feeling well nourished and moisturized throughout the day.

Face Oasis Mist retails for $4 at Ulta and can be purchased here.

EVERYDAY MAKEUP LOOK.

Waking up at 7am every morning is definitely not my cup of tea. Therefore, getting ready in the morning feels like the hardest task and on top of that having to make my face look half decent is just asking for way too much. Therefore, my morning makeup routine tends to be super simple (just enough so  that I don't look like a zombie walking into work) . So I thought it would be perfect to put together a quick video going over how I do my everyday makeup.

All the products used are listed at the bottom of the video.

8. Wisdom is not measured by age, and intelligence by grades. Remember that.
9. Don't underestimate the power of winged liner.
10. Music is the answer to everything.
11. Enjoy the little things. Because when you look back you will realize they were the big things.
12. Spend some time alone everyday.
13. Cherish those you love, you never know if you will see them again.
14. Pay your credit card every month.
15. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for answer.

APRIL WISHLIST.

Wishlist, Fashion, Monthly

I know it's a little late to do an April Wishlist as we are almost into the middle of April. But in my defense, I have way too many things on my wishlist right now, so I thought it's only fair to just put them out there. Here's what's on my first (official) Wishlist!

1. One of my goals for spring summer is to start a little garden for my balcony, as it is in major need of some TLC. Adding some low maintenance flowers/plants would really bring some life to the bare space.

2. I have been drooling over this Jo Malone Candle for as long as I can remember. It is the perfect scent and smells so heavenly! It might just be an impulse buy, as I can't imagine spending $65+ on a freakin' candle.

3. Ever since I got a little sample of the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream, I have been dying to get my hands on it. I've read great reviews about this product! Defintely on the top of my list for this month.

4. I think I have heard every beauty youtuber rave about this Maybelline Super Stay nail polish in the color 'Uptown Blue' it is the perfect shade for spring. I'm bummed that it is currently not sold in Canada, so I might have to wait for this one a little while longer.

5. You really can't go wrong with these slip-on Sneakers by Yves Saint-Laurent.

6. How cute is this rustic chair! A perfect pop of color for any space. I can already imagine it sitting on my balcony.

7. I can't even list how many great reviews I've heard about this Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. This one had to be on my wishlist!

8. Found this gorgeous mirror on Pinterest. I think it would be perfect for those full body mirror selfies. Don't you?

9. Last but not least, this classic red from the Chanel Rouge Allure Collection is right up my alley. You really can't go wrong with a red and that too from Chanel.

What's on your wishlist currently?

INSPIRATION #2

Perfect for summer. These Isabel Marant heels are everything.  Now if only I could actually afford them.

MY RECENT BUYS.

Makeup, Loreal, Rimmel

If you can't tell from the picture I went a little L'oreal crazy. I originally only intended to buy the True Match Lumi foundation as I have heard a plenty of bloggers/youtubers rave about it. It's especially great for people who suffer from dry skin (which would definitely be ME), so I am going to give this bad boy a go!

I also picked up the Luminous Carbon Black Mascara and the Voluminous Million Lashes. On a side note, I've been using the Carbon Black mascara for the past couple days and I am LOVING it so far. I will write a more detailed review on the products once I have tried them out for a bit longer. Since I was out of eye liner and was feeling overly generous spending all my money at the drug store, I also managed to get my hands on the Infallible BlackBuster Liquid Eyeliner Pen. Wow. That was a mouthful.

Last but not least, you can't go wrong with the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed powder for everyday wear.

What drugstore products have you been loving lately?

5 SIMPLE WAYS TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Happy Monday, Beautiful, Motivational
Whenever I find myself not happy with the way things are going about, these are some of the things I like to do. These are very simple ideas, yet following them can have profound effects.

1. List out 3 things you are grateful about-OUT LOUD: Now this may seem really silly and tedious to say the things you are grateful for out loud. But I think this step is the one that adds value. When you hear yourself saying the things you are grateful for, it will really hit a nerve and instantly put a smile on your face!

2. Go Jogging. Regularly: There is something so peaceful yet exhilarating about going for runs. I find running gives me a chance to unwind, listen to music and just be with my thoughts. Since exercising releases endorphin, the happy chemical, it's a great way to relieve stress.

3.Live in the NOW: Too often we keep reliving our past and worrying about the future. Be present. Give yourself time to appreciate the things around you.

4. One Random Act of Kindness Daily: Pretty soon you will realize that when you are kind to others, people will be kind to you. Whether it's giving someone directions, helping an elderly cross the street, or simply listening to a friend who is feeling down.

5. Try to see the positive even in negative situations: It is human nature to always feel the need to be in control and when we can't control a situation, we feel angry and frustrated. It is important to step back and realize why something didn't go the way we wanted it to be. Sometimes, its just not the time and more often than not, there's always something better around the corner. Just be patient!

What are some things you do to live a more positive life?

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY.

Happy Monday, Beautiful, Motivational

I have made it my mission to constantly remind myself of all the things I am happy about. I have realized that it truly lifts my spirits thinking of all the countless blessings I have in my life. So, as we all get back to work from this long weekend, I thought I would share with you a little list of things I am grateful and happy for!

HELLO APRIL.

April, Spring

Hello my lovelies! I am thinking you are just as shocked as me that it is already April! I mean how is that even possible? It literally feels like it was new years just YESTERDAY. Even though Spring technically starts in March, I personally don't start feeling the spring vibe until April. The days are starting to be a bit longer and we get to see Mr.Sun more often. All in all, it's a little reminder that summer is just around the corner (my favorite season). April is going to be a super busy month for me with work, gym, blogging and just life in general. I hope to spend a little bit more time outdoors this month doing hikes, going for more runs and just enjoying the amazing city that is Vancouver.

I'd love to know, what your favorite season is?
